Completion of an individual program of study as agreed to by the student and the graduate supervisory committee is required. The faculty evaluates students yearly until admitted to official candidacy for the Ph.D. degree.

Admission to candidacy requires satisfactory completion of the core pharmaceutics courses, as well as passing a written and oral qualifying examination.

A minimum of three seminars must be successfully presented during the student’s graduate program. Students are also encouraged to complete one-semester courses in bioethics and statistics. A written dissertation based on original research must be prepared and orally defended.

Students must be enrolled for 9-11 semester hours of graduate coursework (5000 level or above) in both the fall and spring semesters. Candidates for graduate degrees are required to maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA in course work counted toward the degree
