Program Graduation Requirements

A minimum of 16 hours in PSY courses are required and a minimum of 6 of these need to be upper-division.

Residence policy: 6 hours must be taken at the U of U and 3 of those hours must be upper-division.

All courses must be completed with a C or better.

Advanced Placement (AP) score of 3 or higher fulfills the PSY 1010 requirement. Students will receive 3 credit hours towards the Psychology minor. Students cannot receive credit for PSY 1010 in the minor if AP credit has or will be awarded.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Psychology Test score of 4 or higher fulfills the PSY 1010 requirement. Students will receive 3 credit hours towards the Psychology minor. Students cannot receive credit for PSY 1010 in the minor if IB credit has or will be awarded.

Out of the psychology elective credits, no more than one course can come from the following list: Out of the Psychology elective credits, no more than one course can come from the following list: ED PS 3500, ED PS 5060, ED PS 5061, ED PS 5062, ED PS 5063, ED PS 5064, ED PS 5065, ED PS 5066, ED PS 5067, ED PS 5068, ED PS 5069, ED PS 5070, ED PS 5072, ED PS 5073, ED PS 5074, ED PS 5960, KINES 3340, KINES 3350, ANTH 3481, SW 3400, SW 3050, H EDU 3350, SOC 3020, LING 3190, FCS 5305.

Earn a minimum Grade of "C" in the following:
  • Note on PSY 1010: Advanced Placement (AP) score of 3 or higher fulfills the PSY 1010 requirement. Students will receive 3 credit hours towards the Psychology minor. Students cannot receive credit for PSY 1010 in the minor if AP credit has or will be awarded. International Baccalaureate (IB) Psychology Test score of 4 or higher fulfills the PSY 1010 requirement. Students will receive 3 credit hours towards the Psychology minor. Students cannot receive credit for PSY 1010 in the minor if IB credit has or will be awarded.

  • Complete at least 9 credits from the following types of courses:

    Choose from among all psychology undergraduate course offerings to complete the 16 credit-hour requirement. Upper division can include PSY 3000-level to PSY 5000-level courses. Up to 3 hours of Experiential Learning can be counted towards the 16 credits hours; PSY 4800-4806, PSY 4910, PSY 4890, PSY 4955, PSY 4920, PSY 5950, and internships with approval.
