Program Graduation Requirements

Consistent with UUSOM policy and the UUSOM Student Handbook, the official medical student transcript is a pass/fail/incomplete record maintained by the University of Utah's Registrar Office. For the purposes of the RTU Medicine Certificate, “Pass” is equivalent to a letter grade of “B” or higher.

  • Passing (at least 70%) on all quizzes

  • Passing grade on all writing assignments, which must demonstrate: Thoughtfulness, Understanding, Cogency, Completeness, Relevance in all coursework

  • Full attendance and PASSING grade in the Summer Rural Immersion Program, where students must demonstrate in group discussion and writing assignments clear understanding of both the strengths and challenges in rural, tribal and underserved community health, as well as potential responses to these challenges

  • Completion, with a passing grade on formal evaluations from clinical preceptors/clerkship directors of at least 1 core clinical clerkship in a tribal, rural or underserved setting

  • Completion and presentation of a high-quality Community-Oriented Health Improvement (COHI) Project as assessed by the COHI mentor and GC program

Certificate Type

Embedded

Embedded certificates are conferred concurrently with a degree.
Stand Alone certificates are conferred to a student who is not seeking a degree.
