Program Description

The curriculum covers teaching/learning theory, constructing objectives, assessments, and course assignments/activities. Also covered are topics specific to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and teaching with technology. Three credits in the curriculum are focused on applying the skills and knowledge taught in didactic courses and developing a teaching portfolio. Three credits of electives will be specific to the student's discipline/interest. By successfully completing the requirements for the certificate, students will have the knowledge and skills necessary to be a successful novice instructor in higher education settings.

Program Admissions Requirements

For graduate students only:

  • Admission to a graduate program at the University of Utah

  • Letter of support from an advisor or chair.

For graduate students and faculty:

  • Letter of Reference

  • Statement of Intent

  • CV
