Program Description
The Behavioral Health Certificate Program is designed to complement and support the goals of a for-credit matriculated student in social work. The certificate program offers specialized knowledge in behavioral health. The certificate includes practical skill development and simulated practice to gain a deeper understanding of best practices in behavioral health. This certificate can be particularly beneficial for individuals looking to enter the workforce quickly and before finishing their degree. This is a strong industry demand for this certificate with many employment opportunities.
Program Admissions Requirements
To be admitted into the BHC program you must first be admitted to the BSW Program.
The certificate aligns closely with the current BSW curriculum with only one course (Independent Study) is not required for the degree, but can be utilized as electives in our program. Since BSW students will benefit in the workforce by having both a BSW and BHT Certificate, in the initial phase the program will have students "opt out" vs apply to the program. Advising, as well as our Certificate Coordinator, will help students plan their schedules to complete the BHT Certificate within the 12 month time frame or opt out.
