Global and Comparative Perspective: Graduates will possess an understanding of the peoples and cultures, and of the foundational ideas and institutions that have helped define Latin America and other world regions.
Interdisciplinary Analytical Skills: Graduates will be able to assess competing approaches to some of the most urgent contemporary issues and historical debates confronting the societies of Latin America.
Cultural and Communication Competence: Graduates will be able to read, write, speak or otherwise operate within linguistic or cultural contexts of Latin America with sufficient facility to sustain critical inquiry and convey findings in speech and writing.
Civic and Professional Preparedness: Graduates will develop the skills necessary for civic and professional engagement, lifelong service and learning, and admission to competitive graduate programs for which global awareness and cultural competence are essential.
