Latin American Studies

Language Proficiency: Students should demonstrate a high level of competence in a major Latin American language, including Spanish, Portuguese, or an Indigenous language. This includes the ability to read, write, and speak the language with sufficient proficiency to understand and be understood

Research Skills: Students will solve a research problem on a specifically defined Latin American topic by applying a disciplinary perspective and consulting and analyzing appropriate disciplinary sources or data

Advanced Knowledge: Students should demonstrate advanced knowledge of Latin America or a specific Latin American country, including important aspects of its history, cultures, societies, or geographies

Interdisciplinary Perspectives: Students should be able to communicate in written or oral form how interdisciplinary and diverse perspectives informed and modified their research and understanding of Latin America
