Students must successfully complete MUSC 1150 and MUSC 1160 or demonstrate equivalent competence in order to enroll in MUSC 2181.
Fourth semester proficiency is required.

After successfully completing a 4th semester jury which progresses a student to upper-division lessons in the student's primary instrument and in consultation with Director of Jazz Studies and appropriate faculty mentors, a student make take up to 9 credits of lessons in another instrument (3-credit lessons) or in composition (3-credit lessons).
