Program Description

Coordinated Master’s Program in Nutrition and Dietetics
Develops entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists who are prepared to practice in a wide variety of settings. We take a multifaceted approach to education by facilitating high-quality experiential learning, community engagement, research, and professional development. Further, we aim to prepare graduates who will advance the field of dietetics, enhance health and prevent chronic disease, and translate research into real-world solutions.

Master's Degree in Nutrition and Integrative Physiology
Trains professionals who are prepared to conduct scientific research exploring the physiological, molecular, and behavioral aspects of nutrition and metabolic health, and our faculty are leaders in the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge in these areas. Through interdisciplinary education and research, our program prepares students to advance scientific discovery and disseminate the latest findings to the public by way of professional publications, classroom education, and community outreach.

Program Admissions Requirements

Students will need to have a completed bachelor's degree and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher. The cumulative GPA calculation will be based on University of Utah Office of Admissions policy.

Students must complete the following pre-requisite courses or provide a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) Verification Statement:

  • Biology - 1 semester

  • Chemistry I - 1 semester

  • Organic Chemistry - 1 semester

  • Biochemistry - 1 semester

  • Chemistry Lab (taken at any level) - 1 semester

  • Human Physiology - 1 semester

  • Nutrition through the Lifecycle - 1 semester

  • Advanced Human Nutrition - 1 semester

  • Food Science - 1 semester

  • Social Science - 1 semester

  • Intermediate Writing - 1 semester

  • Exercise Physiology (for Sports Nutrition focus) - 1 semester

Programs begin fall semester.

Individuals who desire the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential should apply through the Dietetics Inclusive Centralized Application Service (DICAS).
