Program Graduation Requirements

All courses must be passed with a C or better.

At least 6 credits of minor requirements must be taken in residence at the University of Utah

Students who have advanced proficiency in Spanish through extended residence in a Spanish-speaking environment (e.g. native speakers, military service personnel, LDS missionaries), are not eligible to take Spanish courses below the 3060-level.

Grammar

Complete at least 1 of the following:

For students who have completed third-year Spanish prerequisites (or equivalent) or received a score of 5 on the AP Spanish Exam

Complete ALL of the following Courses:

Students who earned academic credit through the Language Bridge program (SPAN 3116 3117, 3118) do not need to complete SPAN 3020.

For students with at least 1.5 years of extensive experience in a Spanish-speaking environment

Complete ALL of the following Courses:

Text Analysis

Complete ALL of the following Courses:

Culture and Society

Complete at least 1 of the following Courses:

Electives

Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:

SPAN Electives at the 4000-level

Earned at least 6 credits from: Courses from SPAN 4000-5999

Except:

Earn at least 6 credits

AND

Additional Upper-Division SPAN Elective

Earned at least 3 credits from SPAN 3000 - 5999, excluding:

course

Earn at least 3 credits

Students who have earned academic credit for all three Language Bridge courses (SPAN 3116, 3117, 3118) may count two Bridge courses toward the 4000-level electives.
